Stage 4: Cimbergo - Saviore - Cevo

From the bread tree forests to the extraordinary Saviore Valley

This stage follows an ancient route that, at mid-altitude, connected the centers of Val Saviore, offering a path rich in history and enchanting landscapes. Starting from the center of Paspardo, you encounter the evocative carved rock of the Capitello dei Due Pini, a prehistoric astronomical observation point used to observe the cycle of the seasons. From here, the trail continues on an easy path that leads to the mid-altitude pastures of Triplane, immersed in the tranquility of nature. The journey continues to the imposing remains of the Isola power plant, a testimony to industrial archaeology. Climbing up, you cross the picturesque villages of Valle, Ponte and Saviore, each with its own charm, to finally reach Cevo, the destination of this captivating exploration, which offers an immersion in the history and landscape of the valley.

WHAT TO SEE

The archaeological area of Paspardo
Due to its considerable extension, the archaeological area of Paspardo is divided into sub-areas immersed in a suggestive mountain environment, largely intact, each characterized by unique execution styles and subjects not found in other areas of the Valley. The Via Raetia passes particularly in front of the Capitello dei due Pini in the Plas locality, a splendid rock flanked by engravings that probably allowed the determination of equinoxes and solstices.

DON'T MISS

Our suggestions on what not to miss along the route:

The Isola power plant
At the bottom of Val Saviore stand abandoned and majestic the buildings of the hydroelectric complex built in the early years of the twentieth century.
