Stage 2: Borno - Breno - Capo di Ponte

From the Plateau of the Sun to the heart of UNESCO World Heritage: the rock engravings

The second stage of our journey will lead us to discover the Romanization of Valle Camonica. After a stretch immersed in the woods, the route guides us to the prehistoric sanctuary of Asinino Anvoia, a place charged with ancestral spirituality. From here, the trail descends towards the valley floor, where we encounter Cividate Camuno, the ancient Cives Camunnorum, guardian of invaluable archaeological treasures, such as the archaeological museum and the imposing remains of the Roman amphitheater, testimonies of a glorious past. The journey continues along the course of the Oglio river and reaching Breno, dominated by its medieval castle. The stage culminates in Capo di Ponte, the beating heart of the valley's archaeological heritage and prestigious UNESCO site, where rock engravings of extraordinary beauty, unique in the world, are found. An experience that weaves together nature, history and culture in an unforgettable narrative.

WHAT TO SEE

A megalithic sanctuary from the Copper Age
The archaeological park of Asinino-Anvòia on the Ossimo-Borno plateau allows to deepen the theme of megalithic sanctuaries from the Copper Age (III millennium BC).
